She sat on the campus of their school, watching as her children, engaged in lively conversation, entered the parking lot filled with cars bearing familiar signs. "Zaria, this driver of yours is like my own servant. Whether I'm in Kaduna or Abuja, he's always at my beck and call. Feenat, have you met him? If not, you should join us now," she suggested with a playful tone.
Bini Bini responded with a dismissive "Mtswwwwww," and Zatayi's head turned towards them. Leemah Atare, her bestie, exchanged eye rolls with her.
"Nakira, Daddy said he's on his way. I'm wondering if something is holding him up. Bestie, I hope you're not avoiding me. My brother is about to leave," she continued, smiling as Leemah's brother began to stand up.
Leemah beamed and waved at him, saying, "Oh, don't go, Daddy. Come over here." She caught up to where Leemah's brother was parking, hitting him playfully. "Woo, bro, I've missed you," she exclaimed.
Feenat twisted her mouth in response, opening her backpack and biting her lip. "Bekarasaba, but look, Ahanya, your friend will take care of you. Ummina, watch over her. God protect you. Amen," she added, pretending to talk to her dad. "Daddy, let's call him so he doesn't end the call."
"Okay, daughter. Shikenan, bye," he responded before ending the call. She turned around, making eye contact with Leemah. They heard the sound of the mortar stopping.
