It's an expansive mansion boasting seven rooms and tents. The grandeur of the ground floor hints at the house's age, once featuring three floors in its prime. The main yard, adorned with sizable trees, holds two bathrooms and three attics. Beyond the yard, a two-story structure houses the boys, evident from the scattered shoes, shorts, lunch boxes, lemon bottles, and plastic water containers strewn across the first-floor balcony connected to five rooms.
A glance into the kitchen revealed a large pot simmering on the stove, where Rabia, engrossed in a hefty English novel, lay at the end of their booth. Her younger sister, Sumayya, interrupted her solitude, urging her to prepare tea for their mother. Rabia, irked, accused Sumayya of disregarding her, and a brief argument ensued. In jest, Sumayya ran outside, evoking laughter and playful banter.
Rabia, about to retaliate, halted when Sumayya sought refuge beside their mother, Hajiya Zulai, who sat in prayer on the couch. Holding Rabia's hand, Hajiya Zulai conveyed a decision with a subtle excitement. Despite Rabia's understanding, Sumayya teased her, prompting Rabia to leave, warning her with a playful threat.
Sumayya, now with their mother and Hajiya Gaji, exchanged banter, claiming busyness with important matters. Hajiya Gaji playfully chided Sumayya, while Hajiya Zulai smiled, trying to maintain order. The arrival of Hajiya Tabawa signaled a potential family meeting, and Sumayya blushed at the impending discussion.
The story unfolds in the backdrop of Sararran's life, a prosperous businessman, known for his extensive wealth and successful ventures in England and China. His family dynamics, particularly the multitude of children inherited from Gwadabe, provide context to Mado Gwadabe's upbringing, marked by the absence of his father.
