In a heartfelt exchange, Ahmad is overwhelmed with grief, weeping over the loss of his beloved Fateemah, whom he wronged and now desperately seeks, unsure if she’s alive or dead. His friend Habeeb urges him to pray and trust in God’s plan, but Ahmad, consumed by guilt, feels his life is meaningless without her. He pleads for God to reunite them or grant her peace if she’s gone. Habeeb, moved to tears, struggles to console him, urging him to seek forgiveness from his mother and visit the hospital to address his deteriorating health, though Ahmad insists only finding Fateemah will heal him.
Meanwhile, Habeeba and Bintu, two sisters, prepare to join their mother at their family’s renowned eatery, Hassy and Hussy’s Kitchen in Adamawa. Bintu, a slender, fair girl with striking features, delays them while choosing a hijab, prompting Habeeba’s playful scolding. At the restaurant, their mother, a woman in her forties resembling Habeeba, reprimands them for tardiness on a busy payroll day. Bintu, eager to cook, insists on helping despite her mother’s concern. A coworker, Nabeela, questions Bintu’s parentage, noting her lack of resemblance to their mother, sparking tension. Their mother fiercely defends Bintu, silencing Nabeela and affirming her love for both daughters.
Ahmad, son of Alhaji Kabeer, a wealthy and compassionate Fulani businessman from Adamawa, grew up privileged but troubled. Alhaji Kabeer, known for his orphanage and charity, married Mariya, a kind woman who struggled with infertility for four years. Despite her fears, Kabeer reassured her, valuing their work with orphans. When Ahmad was born, he was celebrated, inheriting his father’s charm and Arab-like features but also a prideful nature. As Ahmad returns home, he reflects on his strained relationship with his mother and sister, tormented by his past mistakes with Fateemah and the fear of losing his family’s love.
